is the stepping down of the NKF CEO and board the "best news for Singaporeans?"
maybe to you sir, when your hatred to them is utmost deep since they sued you.

personally i dont agree.
you cannot possibly ignore today's straits times headlines. if you do [or has never heard of the NKF ruckus these people are creating], you're simply living in a world of their own.
read the newspapers. watch the news.

what has the NKF CEO, TT Durai and his board brought to NKF ever since they came into place?
lots of donations, lots of publicity. NKF will not be known as the "richest centre with dozens of donation shows" without them.
what is their main purpose in doing so?
all these are being done for the patients. the overheads. the running of Singapore's largest and only kidney foundation centre.
would NKF be where they are if not for TT Durai and his board?
that is for you to ponder, i am not about to start an argument with anyone.

has everybody failed to recognise the things they have done for the patients and NKW amidst the mess that the newspapers are reporting everyday?

everyone seems to have the wrong idea of VWOs being run by pure volunteers who seem to be able to live and survive in Singapore. when people hear that one works at VWOs, people think, oh you must be a volunteer, not receiving income yea?
how wrong can that notion be.

is $600,000 too much for the CEO of NKF?
read the alphabets. C for cat, E for elephant and O for orang utan.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER.
not some lowly cleaner stationed at the toilet everyday from 8am-6pm.
not some manager who makes sure that everything in the office runs well.
not some stage director who ensures that the donation shows draw in as much donations as possible.
but we are talking about the CEO of a charity organisation.
lets change the scenario slightly.
what if TT Durai was the CEO of Creative [pardon me Mr Sim. :) ]?
then, would $600,000 be peanuts or too much? think about it.
how much do you want TT Durai to be earning annually as the CEO of NKF?
the monthly pay of a secretary at $1500?
the sum of significance of $1000 a month when him and his board comes up with ideas for donations and running of NKF?
dont you count that an insult to such bright brains and creative souls?
i do admit, however, that his bonus is way too much. 3-4 months sound better to me.
BUT. his monthly salary of 25k is considered appropriate to me.
dont agree, challenge me.

the only fault i find with the entire issue here, is TT Durai, trying to cover his ass.
wanting to sue ST for "exposing" him. all ST did was to state the facts, not their opinions mind you. glad that he withdrew the case.
honesty and a certain degree of transparency is all we want.
what is the use of withdrawing your donations for NKF?
ultimately, TT Durai is not going to suffer. the kidney failure patients, and now, the cancer patients are the ones who are going to suffer.
are Singaporeans that immature and childish to stop donating because of one silly mistake made by one person? are we not thinking for ourselves?
"oh since he is not donating, i shall not as well.." "bad publicity, no point donating to NKF patients.."
rightfully their reserves can provide up to 30 years, according to press reports. then what happens after that? we leave the kidney failure patients to flounder on their own and NKF declared bankrupt? is that what immature Singaporeans will do?

i dare not say i am not one immature Singaporean. bad thoughts did flit across my mind when this ruckus surfaced in the papers and on the news. but when you really sit down and think for a moment, do you think we can find such capable people and put NKF back at where it was just 3 weeks ago, without a tainted surface, and at the same time ensure the transparency that the govt and public want.

nothing is perfect in this world. absolutely nothing.
