a place where she always goes

realised my taste in books is shifting. or rather, maybe im making a concious effort to change my taste in books. i still read thrillers, especially books by my favourite authors like patterson, palmer, crichton, connelly, mcnab etc. but im making more of an effort to read light hearted books. and more aclaimed books, by literary writers. books that are not so hard based on mystery and thriller. just something different.

managed to convince my parents to go to the jurong east library with me today.
collected my medical report from raffles medical group clinic as well and dont worry, im fine safe and sound. nothing wrong with me. except for me becoming fat. acks.
borrowed six books when i only returned five. had to beg my dad to lend me his card to borrow the extra book. but then again, i have two cards to my name. or more like, my mum gives me her card to borrow, so that i can borrow eight. oh wells. out of the 6 borrowed, only 2 were thriller books. considering i still have 3 crichton books waiting for me at home. hee. borrowed the following:
George Elliot - Mill on the Floss
Richard Ford - The Sportswriter
Richard Ford - Independence Day
Katie Eforde - The Rose Revived
Andy Mcnab - Dark Winter
Wlliam Diehl - Eureka

Last two books are thrillers. found dark winter by accident and twas the last book i picked up. couldnt bear to let it go cos it was the newest book by mcnab that i havent bought. his last liberation day i got it for only seven bucks at the big bookshop at clementi. pure luck. heehahaha. oops.
realised at the same time that im quite the picky reader as well. if a book looks interesting, but if i dont like the font and spacing of the words and colour of the paper, i'd put back the book. somehow i find it a chore to read those kind of books, with awkward spacing and bigger-than-my-usual font size. picky aint i? oh wells.
independence day is the sequel to the sportswriter . they seem pretty interesting and yeah, different. wonder if i'd enjoy reading them. guess it is time for me to start reading different genres of novels. except for romance. NEVER. grin.
bringing my parents to watch the best bet tmr and treating them to crystal jade tmr at jurong point. something along the lines of fathers day celebration. yeaps. key thing to note will be, that both my mum and dad have not stepped into the cinema for at least 15 years. yesh, that long. so i hope they dont make loud comments when we step into the theatre tmr. hee.
